Build guide for VMG8825-B50B V5.17(ABNY.7)C0
0. Introduction
This file will show you how to build the VMG8825-B50B linux system,
please note, the download image will overwrite the original image existed in the flash memory of EV board.

2. Prepare the build OS.
A. We suggest using the Linux distribution to setup your environment for reduce compatible issue.
Install Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop 32bit
B. Update system
Use GUI interface to update system or use command to update system.
$ sudo apt-get update
*Note: If update failed, edit /etc/apt/sources.list as following link

C. Change default /bin/sh link to /bin/bash
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure dash
choice "no" and press enter.
3. Prepare the compiler environment
Install the following necessary tools
$ sudo apt-get install -y g++ flex bison gawk make autoconf zlib1g-dev libncurses-dev git subversion gettext
4. Extract the open source code
$ tar zxf <FW Tarbal File>
5. Build the firmware for Web-GUI upgrade using
Change the directory into extrated directory
$ cd <extrated directory>
#Useful for make config
Firmware ID nobrand = ABNY
Firmware ID branded Wind = ABLZ
Model ID branded Wind = 4543
Clean and build the firmware
$ make dirclean
$ make -j1 V=sc
It is important to compile with -j1 because forcing multicore can cause problems when compiling libjson-c
6. The image is in the images directory.
The firmware image will locate at <extrated directory>/bin/brcm963xx/zyxel/ras.bin
You can use it update VMG8825-B50B by using the firmware update procedure.
7. Change default password
Make a copy of the sysconfig.tar.gz file located in NOMEFIRMWARE/build_dir/target-arm_v7-a_uClibc-0.9.32_eabi/root-brcm963xx/etc/
Extract it with tar xzvf sysconfig.tar.gz
Using your preferred editor (vi, nano, leafpad...), modify both files as follows:
zcfg_config.json to set, in plain text, a password for each user (example, under "Username": "admin"; fill in "Password": "NEWPASSWORD").
zcfg_predef.json change "AdminRandomPassword": true to false
Repack: tar czvf sysconfig.tar.gz {zcfg_config.json,zcfg_predef.json}
Copy the new sysconfig.tar.gz back to its place
8. Reassemble firmware
From the main firmware folder, run the command ```make merge_firmware``` and wait for it to finish. At this point you will have the new firmware (ras.bin) in FIRMWAREFOLDER/bin/brcm963xx/zyxel/
9. Flash the firmware (resetting everything to factory defaults)
From the graphical menu, no explanation needed
Via bootloader: ATUR ipaddresstftpserver:releasename
